Obituary for Otto Karl Riegger

Otto K. Riegger

Age 83, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019.

Otto graduated from Chelsea High School as valedictorian with three varsity letters. He received his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1962.

Otto met the love of his life, Joyce, at the Pretzel Bell in Ann Arbor. They were parishioners at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for 57 years and Otto was a lifetime member of the Ann Arbor Track Club. He worked at Tecumseh Products for 35 years and then retired in 1999.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce; his children, Paul, Kurt (Lori), and John (Keri); and his grandchildren, James, Carly, Anna, Claire. He is preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Magdalena Riegger; and his sister, Betty Messman.

Visitation will take place Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 4-8pm with a Rosary at 7pm at Nie Family Funeral Home (3767 W. Liberty Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48103). A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 11am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2250 E. Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI 48104 with Fr. James Conlon Officiating, with visitation at the church one hour prior to mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Dawn Farm, 6633 Stony Creek Rd, Ypsilanti, MI 48197 or United Way, 2305 Platt Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.
