Obituary for Helen Marie Ellis (McDowell)

Helen Marie Ellis, age 91, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2019 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease at Linden Square, Saline, Michigan. Helen was born on May 4, 1928 in Osawatomie, Kansas to Robert and Goldie McDowell, the youngest of three brothers and two sisters who have proceeded her in death.

Helen was married to Norman C. Ellis on December 12, 1958 at the First Christian Church in Paola, Kansas. They met while Helen was a psychiatric nurse and Norman was finishing his PhD in clinical psychology at Osawatomie State Hospital. They adopted their only child, Kevin Ellis in 1963 and moved to Ann Arbor in 1966. Prior to Helen, Norman passed away on July 19, 2009 and are survived by her son Kevin and grandson Blu.

A private ceremony will be held at Washtenong Cemetery, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be directed to the “Helen Ellis Tribute” of the Alzheimer’s Association at
