Obituary for Faison Gibson Sr.

`Faison “Bud” Gibson, 94, died Thursday in Ann Arbor, MI. Bud was born and raised in Washington, DC and was the son of Edward Banks Gibson and Sallie Peirce Gibson. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1946 and served in World War II and the Korean War. In 1958, he married Sarah Abbott of Buffalo, New York. He received his Ph.D. from MIT in the early 1960’s. He worked for decades as a Nuclear Physicist for the government and then for private contractors in Huntsville, Alabama, where he and his wife raised their two children. He was a principled, kind, and gentle man. He loved cats and line dancing. He is survived by his son, Bud Gibson Jr. and daughter-in-law, Mara Gibson, of Ann Arbor, Michigan; his daughter Sallie Peirce Gibson of San Francisco, California; and his three grandchildren: Aram Gibson, Levon Gibson, and Charles Gibson. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 22 at 1 pm at Glacier Hills Retirement Community in the Dobson Room at the Life Enrichment Center.
