Obituary for Donald C. Peterson

Donald C. Peterson, age 89, died Tuesday August 27, 2019. He was born and raised in northern Wisconsin by his parents Chris and Clara Peterson. Donald graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Superior, the University of Michigan College of Engineering, and George Washington University. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years, including service in Vietnam, and retired as a Colonel. Assignments in the Air Force included flying the B-47 and transport aircraft in the Strategic Air Command, flight test engineer at Edwards AFB, project officer with the USAF headquarters in Washington D.C., deputy director of testing at the Arnold Engineering Development Center, and as program head of AFROTC at the University of Michigan. After retirement from the Air Force, he served as director of career planning and placement for the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan. Donald was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ann Arbor, including service as president and treasurer on the church council. He enjoyed reading and playing golf and tennis. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister, and son Donald Jr. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, son David, and nephews, nieces, and cousins.
